Fabi Medina, an OTB ministry partner and church leader from Gracia del Calvario in Tijuana, recently shared:
"We have a lot of children who need a plate of food but more importantly they need to know about Jesus. By providing them with food we are able to provide them with the Gospel. It is something beautiful that you can combine, food and the love of the Lord."
Fabi Medina and her family have a small house on the outskirts of Tijuana. The home is divided on two plots separated by a cinderblock retaining wall and wooden steps. The top property holds their kitchen which includes a picnic table. Benches and shelves line the walls, a perfect spot for a kid to eat a meal. Monday-Friday, Fabi opens her doors and 70+ children cycle through on their way to or from school to eat a hot, healthy meal. For many, this will be the only complete meal they eat all day.
Jose Luis and Cindy Pesina are the pastors of Gracia del Calvario a Calvary Chapel church in Vista del Valle. Gracia is one of OTB ministry partners. They are experiencing steady growth because of what is happening outside the bowl. Part of their outreach is serving OTB meals at three locations. Fabi oversees one of these feeding locations.
By serving OTB meals, Fabi has seen the doors for relationship and ministry open (hear one story in the video). Because of these relationships, every Sunday two vans full of families attend church at Gracia del Calvario. Cindy shares, “People are changing. Their lives are changing. The kids are getting educated. The mothers and fathers are following Jesus. We’re seeing families change.”
What joy that a simple act of kindness, a bowl of soup, can be used to change hearts and bring entire families to know Jesus! Thank you for partnering with Outside the Bowl in feeding the hungry ... body and soul.
